F**k Society’s Idea Of Beauty

4. October 2015

What is your idea of beauty? Can beauty be defined by age, skin color or body shape? Confucius once said “Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it”. Who gets to decide? We all have said beauty is in the eye of the beholder, comes from within and so forth. But beauty is more than just a visual experience; it is a characteristic that provides a perceptual experience to the eye, the intellect and the ear. It is some kind of satisfaction to our senses. Why do the majority of women from all over the world struggle with feeling beautiful, confident and happy with themselves?

Society’s Idea Of Beauty

Have somebody told you that you are beautiful today? No? Let me tell you right now. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, NO MATTER WHAT! I got many emails from Frolicious Beauties asking me for help with finding confidence to rock their big chop or how to be happy with their afro textured hair. As women we automatically compare us with other beauties and strive for some unknown ideal of perfection. However, we forget that we can never obtain this perfection as it is set by the society. That means we are chasing after an image that is too high and impossible to reach. We are never satisfied with ourselves and this is big problem in our society! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL ! F**K Society’s Idea of Beauty. Don’t let the media or society tell you something different. If I could, I would tell you every day that you are beautiful. Frolicious aim is to spread the self-love and to empower other sisters to feel the same.

As mentioned above, beauty is a combination of qualities that pleases the intellect or moral sense. I am surrounded by beautiful people who inspires me or who encourages me. Frolicious Beauties can be found everywhere! I don’t defined beauty by a single glance.

Your Idea Of Beauty

Remember my post  “Why Creating a Morning Routine Will Make You More Successful”? Every morning I say an affirmation before I start the day. Affirmations are positive thoughts. They are in the first person (me, myself and I) and present tense  – and you repeat them over and over to yourself. You can whisper them. You can say them loud. You can write them and read them. Affirmations work wonders. They calm your body, release stress and give you large doses of confidence and happiness. You can create your own affirmation or get inspired by the internet. Here are 5 beauty affirmations for you:

I am worthy of seeing myself as beautiful.

I love my natural hair.

My mind and body are in perfect balance.

I feel flawless.

I honor who I am.

How do I define beauty? Beauty is relative. That’s the best way to describe the definition of beauty.
