What is dandruff?
If you have those white and dry flakes on your skin or scalp, don’t panic. We can help you. You can get rid of dandruff as most of the time it is harmless. Dandruff can be caused by dry scalp or skin and colder season, combined with overheated rooms. Furthermore, people with seborrheic dermatitis (very irritated oily skin) are very prone to dandruff. Seborrheic dermatitis can affect many areas of the skin, including the backs of the ears, the breastbone, eyebrows, and the sides of the nose, not just the scalp. Here are some natural treatments to get rid of dandruff.
Causes of dandruff
- If you tend to dry skin and scalp than you can get dandruff more often.
- People with very irritated oily skin are prone to dandruff.
- Build up of oil and dead skin cells can lead to dandruff.
- People with skin disorders tend to get dandruff much more frequently than other people.
- People with a weak immune system may have dandruff more often than other people.
- You can get dandruff if you don’t not consume enough foods that contain zinc, B vitamins, and some types of fats.
- Too much stress can cause dandruff.
- Skin cells that grow and die off too fast could be a problem. Exactly why that happens isn’t clear. A very common fungus called malassezia may contribute to dandruff. This fungus lives on the scalp of most healthy adults without causing any problems. One theory is that the immune system of someone with dandruff may overreact to that fungus.
